Comic Relief for Heads - Secondary

January 9, 2014 by Administrator

This programme looks at how Langdon School in East Ham, London participated with non-governmental organisations in 2005, revealing the enduring legacies felt by the school from getting involved.

Staff and pupils at Langdon explain how they have developed empathy with the outside world, engaged with big global issues and how they even took their views to Tony Blair and Nelson Mandela. The school went beyond just charity fundraising by taking a longer journey inside and outside the classroom through education and campaigning.

Jeremy Hayward from the Institute of Education and Comic Relief's education manager Jonathan Smith provide their views on the educational benefits for secondary school participation with non-governmental organisations. Lenny Henry also puts forward his opinion and experiences of these benefits in his own unique way.
