Simrit and Victoria - Classroom strategies

Behaviour expert Sue Cowley visits two Year 3 NQTs as they begin their first term at one of the largest junior schools in the country. She recommends classroom management strategies and involves them in voice coaching.

Simrit Riat and Vicky Rutherford teach Key Stage 2 pupils at Oldknow Junior School, a challenging inner-city primary school which was recently taken out of special measures. The school has more than 500 pupils, most of whom are from a Pakistani or Bangladeshi background and almost all are EAL.

Headteacher Bhupinder Kondal discusses the challenges that lie ahead for Simrit and Vicky, and she reveals her hopes and expectations for their first term.
