KS1/2 English - Reading Recovery in Schools

January 9, 2014 by Administrator

This programme follows the contrasting experiences of two five-year-olds undergoing Reading Recovery at Whitmore Primary School in London.

Reading Recovery is an early literacy intervention programme designed for pupils experiencing literacy difficulties at the end of their first primary school year.

After 15 weeks of daily one-on-one support from experienced specialists, one child is sailing ahead, whilst the other is still struggling with some of the basics of linking sounds, letters and meaning.

Some of the component techniques of Reading Recovery are seen in action, but we also learn about the very individual attention needed to help some children learn to read and write.
