This programme looks at the ways in which one headteacher managed to transform her school, raising it to the top of the 2005 value-added SATs League Tables.
Anita Cliff has been head at Manor Primary School in Coseley, Wolverhampton, for seven years. When she first arrived at the school there were no policies in place and the children were underachieving.
Her transformation of the school was achieved in the following ways:
- Giving the school buildings a makeover
- Introducing computers and interactive whiteboards into every classroom
- Setting up an ICT suite
- Introducing whole-school policies
- Changing the approach to SATs
- Finding the funding
- Introducing a wide variety of out-of -school clubs
- Working in partnership with parents, governors and children
