Led by adviser Sheila Sage, the Early Years Workshop panel looks at the how practitioners can recognise the many different ways in which young children pose questions.
Sage is joined on the panel by Jan Dubiel, principal officer of the Foundation Stage Profile for QCA, Diane Rich, from Rich Learning Opportunities, and nursery practitioner Chris Ross from Evesham Nursery School in Worcestershire.
The panel look back across two weeks at Evesham Nursery and consider how the children initiated an investigation into the properties of water. They analyse the type of questions the children asked, and discuss how practitioners can best establish a culture of listening as well as promote questioning with young children.
