This week Reading Aloud with Michael Rosen goes behind the scenes at the biggest children's book competition in the UK.

The British Library in London is the venue for The Nestle Children's Book Prize, and we hear from some of the authors in the running for this prestigious award:

  • Nick Butterworth, with his picture book The Whisperer - a tale of feuding cats that sparks some lively work in a primary school.
  • Sally Gardner, the dyslexic author of the much acclaimed fantasy adventure story I, Coriander.
  • Paul Stewart and Chris Riddell, who talk about their book Corby Flood

Also in this week's show, Michael Rosen's Rant questions whether we need so many literary awards, whilst our panel - Grant Bage, learning director of NESTA, Julia Eccleshare of The Guardian, and teacher Stacey Jordan - read Cloud Atlas by David Mitchell.
