Parents' Evening

December 17, 2013 by Administrator

A focus on the organisation needed for parents' evening at Denbigh High School, in Luton, where 80 per cent of pupils' families use English as a second language.

Forming a partnership with parents has long been a feature of accepted wisdom when it comes to securing higher levels of student achievement. The parents' evening is an established feature of school life, but a great deal of effort is required if good levels of attendance are to be secured.

Additional provision is needed, in the form of interpreters, for many parents of the pupils at Denbigh. There are also the more common points, such as advanced preparation of the tutors and the production of reports.

This is part of a series of short programmes exploring events within the school year, featuring interviews with members of staff responsible for managing and delivering the events.
