The Parents' Guide explores what's going on in schools today and discusses some of the key issues from the parents' point of view. As presenter Fiona Millar says, "If you have school-aged children, this programme is for you".
In this programme we join Fiona and two parents, Paul Stockwell and Kathryn Kergozou, together with education consultant Christine Ryan, to discuss how science is being taught in secondary schools.
They look at some Teachers TV programmes and ask a number of questions about school science, including:
- Whether it is important for all pupils to learn science
- What kind of science should pupils learn
- How teachers motivate boys and girls to do science
- The best way to support children's learning
Viewers can hear the views of parents and gain an insight into what other schools are doing in this area.
