This programme takes a look at assistant headteacher Katherine Cumberbatch's success at implementing a website to help welcome new pupils.
There are 1100 students at Chestnut Grove secondary school, and over 50 feeder primary schools. It has run summer schools in the past, however that could only benefit 30 or 40 students each year.
Katherine came up with an idea of creating an interactive website to improve the transition. The website has the potential of helping every student soon to join Chestnut Grove.
There are games, films of current students talking about life in school, and a virtual tour of the building. There is also a questionnaire, which is sent directly to the maths teacher who uses it in the first scheme of work when the students start in September.
