The second in a pair of programmes tackling the issue of confidence and singing skills, especially relevant to non-specialist teachers delivering Music in the Key Stage 1/2 classroom.
Most young children love to sing, but teachers who lack confidence in their own singing find it difficult to introduce and nurture key singing skills in the classroom. Singing for Teachers, episode 2, follows up the INSET with teachers and support staff at Cecil Road Primary School, shown in the previous programme.
Kent Teacher Advisor, Helen MacGregor, worked with staff on warm-ups, chants and songs to help find and develop the voice and to explore range, character and pitch. In this programme she re-visits the school to see how Reception, Year 1, 4 and 5 teachers are using these ideas with children.
